A hydraulic dock leveler uses an electro-hydraulic power unit to raise the platform and extend the lip with a single push-button press. The operator drives a forklift onto the lip, and the leveler floats down to rest on the truck bed, bridging the gap and height difference between dock and trailer.

Step by Step

1. Press the raise button — the power unit pressurizes a hydraulic cylinder that lifts the platform out of its pit.

2. At full travel, the lip extends automatically — either a hinged swing lip, a telescopic lip, or a 3-segment lip.

3. Release the button — the leveler lowers until the lip rests on the truck bed.

4. The platform now 'floats' — as the trailer rises or falls during loading, the leveler follows, keeping a safe, level bridge.

5. When the truck departs, the leveler returns to its stored, cross-traffic position flush with the dock.

Safety Interlocks

REDA hydraulic levelers operate on DC 24V control voltage and support PLC interlocking with a vehicle restraint, overhead door, and dock shelter. The leveler stays locked until the restraint is engaged, preventing the most common dock accidents.
